A Seamless Transition: Expert Deltek Consulting and Uninterrupted Accounting Operations

Mountain Research, an employee-owned environmental and drilling services firm offering environmental, drilling, geological, and engineering services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, faced a significant operational challenge when their long-time Controller retired at the same time the firm was transitioning to Deltek Vantagepoint. They needed immediate expert help to onboard their new Controller and ensure their daily accounting operations, especially billing, continued without interruption for a crucial six-week period.

Stambaugh Ness’s Deltek consulting team provided a dual-pronged solution to address both needs. First, SN provided the new Controller with focused, daily training sessions over six weeks, which included the fundamentals of Vantagpeoint, such as project setup, billing, reporting, and month-end close. We also assessed their historical accounting processes and procedures, evaluated the system setup, and made recommendations for system improvements.

Concurrently with training, SN’s Outsourced Accounting team managed the firm’s invoicing to ensure uninterrupted cash flow during the staff transition. Our team continued to support Mountain Research with ongoing Vantagepoint-related questions and consulting needs. For example, SN helped Mountain Research set up a separate profit center for their Drilling business unit.
