Helping SAS Geospatial with FAR Compilation and Overhead Rates

Expert Guidance Secures FAR Compliance and Sets the Stage for Future Growth

Logo for SAS Geospatial, LLC featuring the company name in bold blue letters over a yellow compass rose showing north, south, east, and west directions.SAS Geospatial, a fast-growing land surveying and geospatial firm in the Mid-Atlantic, required a FAR overhead audit to satisfy the compliance requirements of their local government contracts. However, they lacked the necessary preparation to successfully complete the audit on their own.

Stambaugh Ness’s Government Contracting (GovCon) Advisory team assessed the firm’s readiness and recommended a strategic approach. SN guided SAS Geospatial through a FAR overhead compilation, a critical stepping stone to future audits. The project included:

  • Preparation of their overhead schedule.
  • Review of their Internal Control Questionnaire (ICQ).
  • Organization of their data.

SN’s GovCon team provided a thorough Statement of Direct Labor, Fringe Benefits, and General Overhead compilation, including FAR Overhead Rate calculation. They also provided supporting documentation for the client’s 2024 accounting adjustments. In addition, we coached the SAS Geospatial management team on the necessary steps for a successful audit in the following year. This proactive guidance resulted in the successful submission of overhead requests to several state Department of Transportation, and secured Overhead Rate approval from PennDOT.
